Support an installation’s missions, objectives and activity types through the planning, design, and ongoing maintenance of base-wide installation elements: transportation and circulation networks, common areas and open space, and base-wide utility systems. Identify opportunities and establish performance goals for installation elements and consider development of renewable energy generation and storage systems.
Create and maintain base-level standards for installation elements in the base’s Installation Facilities Standards (IFS). Assign appropriate levels of quality based on the Facility Group number of neighboring buildings.
Recognize and protect significant natural geologic and hydrologic features, view corridors, undisturbed sites and historical resources while integrating security / force protection, accessibility, and sustainability measures. Incorporate sustainable development to ensure installation elements reduce energy consumption, lower O&M costs, conserve the use of outdoor water, reduce waste, and reduce pollution.
Follow UFC 3-540-08 for designing and installing renewable power generation systems that interface with an installation’s power grid.
